Wendy Barnes is Program Coordinator for Dignity Health’s Human Trafficking Response Program. Dignity Health is one of the largest health systems in the nation and largest hospital provider in California. Wendy supports efforts to recognize and respond to trafficked persons in the healthcare setting. Wendy is also a national speaker on human trafficking, using her own experiences to educate and empower audiences in the fight against exploitation. Her story illustrates how childhood abuse makes a young person vulnerable to trafficking and serves as an example that freedom and restoration are possible. Wendy has written a memoir, And Life Continues: Sex Trafficking and My Journey to Freedom, and co-authored a chapter in Human Trafficking Is a Public Health Issue: A Paradigm Expansion in the United States (Springer, 2017). She has appeared on talk shows, news features, and documentaries.
